BONK! is a monthly performance series, held at Peppermint, 515 Sixth Street in downtown Racine, WI. It is usually (but not always) held on the fourth Saturday of the month and runs from about 6-7:30pm, give or take. Sponsored by the Racine Public Library, this series is curated by Nick Demske. To learn more, apply to be a monthly mystery curator, or submit your work for consideration in the series, contact BONK! at bonk.racine@gmail.com.
Not a Whole Lot About the Series Founders
Nick Demske (Nicki-poo) lives in downtown Racine and works there at the Racine Public Library. Best. Job. Ever. He was a founder and is the only remaining curator of the BONK! series. He also is the editor of the online journal boo: a journal of terrific things. Visit him sometime at his little poetry headquarters: nickipoo.wordpress.com
Matt Specht lives in Kenosha, WI, and was one of the founders of BONK!. He designed the BONK! logo you see at the top of the screen. Tell him how much you love it. When he’s not making such visual loveliness, he’s a musician and a poet and a … boatsman? Matt recently jumped out of an airplane and has lived to tell about it.
Nicholas Michael Ravnikar (or “Rav Master B,”) was also one of the founders of BONK! and is originally responsible for this blogsite you’re viewing now. Rav Mast has been seen in The Bathroom on all too many occassions. If you don’t click on the link to find out what that means, it will remain an extra creepy statement forever.
First of all, I have to say how much I enjoyed the BONK! premiere experience. It is definitely something I will continue going to (and hopefully get some more people into). I hope you guys continue finding great artists to keep it going. You mentioned having a myspace page, and I did a search for it, but could not seem to find it. I signed up for the listserve, so if you include that website on there, you don’t need to send me a response, but if you don’t include it on there, could you please email me the web address? I’d appreciate it. Thanks, and keep up the good work!
While I enjoyed the Bonk!Premier as video rather than in person (and oh by the by what a beauteous logo), it truly was the next best thing to being there. I am so impressed with the inviting/inclusive nature spurred on by a solid yet un-anal organizational handling that was so evident in this first premier. No telling where this may lead and I will be dogged in following its unfolding blossom, emerging energy, existential exercising, and all the damn good reasons for future gatherings. thank you.
